THE STORY
LASCOD Spa first known as LABORATORI SCIENTIFICI ODONTOIATRIA was founded in Florence in 1946. A young and opinionated university researcher created the small laboratory of research. His objectives were those of satisfying the demands of modern dentistry.
Today, that same vision characterizes the work of a very modern company that operates worldwide.
THE PRODUCTS
The activity of LASCOD Spa was at first exclusively that of manufacturing consumable materials such as alginates, silicones, cements, plasters and stone-plasters.
In the late 1940s KROMOPAN, the first alginate with a chromatic phase indicator ever manufactured, was introduced in the market revolutionizing the way alginates were used.
LASCOD obtained a patent for KROMOPAN in the 1950s and since then many have tried to copy LASCOD alginates.
The second impression material developed by the laboratory was a silicone. LASCOD first introduced SILAXIL, a condensation curing silicone; later the company introduced SILICHROM a vinyl poly vinyl siloxan addition curing silicone and now GHENESYL which is the newest formulation.
In the 1990s LASCOD also developed extra-hard silicone for laboratories: ERGASIL. The innovative lab putty is able to reach its maximum hardness (88 Shore-A) in just about 30 minutes.
Among LASCOD cements KLEIO was the first to be introduced. The zinc oxy-phosphate cement, was the very first product developed by the laboratory at the end of the 1940s. This product formulation and its fine granulometry are greatly appreciated by professionals worldwide to fix crowns and bridges.
The laboratory efforts to create new cements continued and KROMOGLASS a new range of water-based glass-ionomer cements were later introduced to the market.
Experience and further development with the manufacturing of KROMOPAN allowed the formulation of KROMOTYPO: the first and only plaster with a chromatic phase indicator (also patented by LASCOD). Together with KROMOTYPO LASCOD introduced TIME OUT, the only retardant able to modify the working time of LASCOD plasters.
Later the company added to its plasters range several new products specifically developed for use with a flask, with articulators and also an extra-white type 4 stone for high precision orthodontic models.
